About

Born in Trakai, Lithuania, Greta Skya is an oil painter and a linocut printmaker whose work explores the emotional landscapes and inner strength of a modern human. Her artistic path first ignited in childhood, watching her father create with the timeless medium of oils. Through observation and experimentation she developed a distinctive style that fuses bold graphic elements with theatrical staging.

At 19, Skya moved to London, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Acting for Stage and Media. The discipline and storytelling of the stage became deeply ingrained in her visual practice, shaping the dramatic composition, expressiveness, and symbolic language that define her paintings.

Her recent works feature women often portrayed with animal heads, representing their untamed spirit, or headless forms, symbolising the primacy of the heart over the mind. Each piece is deliberately titled to reinforce themes of resilience, determination, and autonomy. Rejecting traditional realism, Skya employs bold outlines, flat fields of vivid colour, and stylised forms to heighten the emotional charge of her subjects.

Greta Skya continues to merge her painter’s eye with a performer’s instinct for staging, creating works that are both visually striking and emotionally resonant.
